Tom Chavez, Founding General Partner at super{set}, is a serial entrepreneur who has spent two decades applying data science, decision theory, and AI to solve complex business challenges. Born in Albuquerque, NM, and inspired by his parents’ work at Sandia National Labs, he earned a B.A. in Computer Science and Philosophy from Harvard and a Ph.D. from Stanford, where he was a NASA fellow. He founded two startups - Rapt (acquired by Microsoft) and Krux (acquired by Salesforce) - delivering a 17.5× return for investors. At super{set}, Tom applies an entrepreneurial framework centered on team, technology, market, timing, and alignment, alongside his “four C’s” of CEO excellence: Conception, Communication, Coordination, and Course-Correction. Beyond business, he co-founded the Chavez Family Foundation, supports causes in education and immigration, serves on nonprofit boards, and enjoys composing and performing music.
