Chrysa Chin is a results-driven executive with over 30 years of experience, including 17.5 years
in the NBA, in strategic engagement and business development, specializing in advising elite
athletes, agents, teams, corporations, and governments on personal and professional growth.
As Executive Vice President of Strategic Relations, Engagement, and Development at the
National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), she led six cross-functional departments that
managed over 30 staff and consultants, including a complimentary suite of programs for Mental
Health & Wellness, Player Health, Player Programs, Player Matters, Career Development, and
Off the Court Transition. Often referred to as “the mother figure behind the whole NBA engine,”
her expertise in player engagement, crisis management, and brand development has
significantly shaped the careers of NBA players.
Chrysa is a trailblazer, advisor, and thought leader who has driven the design and
implementation of key player-centric initiatives, such as Global Elite Youth Sports/Basketball,
ICONIC, and Bespoke, creating partnerships that enhance NBA athletes’ professional growth.
She also played a pivotal role in the successful negotiation of two NBA collective bargaining
agreements (2017 and 2023), ensuring that player interests were protected and new
opportunities for growth were created.
Her expertise spans domestic and international platforms. Chrysa has worked closely with USA
Basketball to support players both on and off the court, managing seamless transitions and
cultivating strong partner engagement during international team travel. She has been actively
involved in player development while traveling with teams, helping athletes navigate the
complexities of global engagement.
Prior to her current role at the NBPA, Chrysa worked at Nike as a Relationship Management
Consultant, where she developed marketing strategies that aligned athletes with community-
focused initiatives and supported athlete services. She later joined the NBA to support the
launch of the WNBA as the Broadcast Liaison before transitioning to the NBA, where she rose
to become the first woman appointed as Vice President within the Player Development
department. In this role, she led key programs such as the Rookie Transition Program and
Player Assistance Program, further contributing to the NBA’s growth, which now exceeds $10
billion in annual revenue.
Committed to advancing leadership, particularly for women in the sports management field, her
dedication to developing programs that protect and elevate athletes’ careers makes her a
trusted and influential leader in the industry. In addition to her executive roles, Chrysa serves as
a board member for the National Police Athletic/Activities Leagues (NPAL) and the NBPA
Foundation. She is also an advisory board member for Advancing Beyond in Sports (ABIS),
Players TV, Pro Athlete Community, Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), and Cache AI.
Chrysa is an active participant in the mentorship programs for the Atlantic Council and Speak
Up Africa/BAL.
Chrysa is the proud mother to Joel Garcia, who she now has the pleasure of watching
pursue his own career path as a Player Development Coach for the Westchester Knicks/Knicks.
